I used to work in auto parts. One day, I had a gentleman come in and ask me how much a motor mount for his vehicle cost, since his vehicle was making a noise and his mechanic said he needed one. I gave him the price, and he asked me: “is the motor mount important?”
I have never so flatly and quickly replied “yes” in my life.
He didn’t buy it, by the way.

There are easier ways to perform the first step in an engine swap.

Reminds me of one time when I had to take that crappy work truck out of state to spend a few days at a jobsite in Cincinnati. Shortly before I got there, the truck started shaking. I was about 4 hours away from the office.
I opened the hood to find the engine leaning over and pinching the battery cable that goes to the starter. It hadn’t shorted out yet, but I soon noticed that it was messing with my ability to use the shifter, too. I was stuck babying the thing for the rest of the week until I could get it back to Michigan.

If motor mounts were important, surely they wouldn’t build them out of such failure prone parts...
